Congreso colombiano destaca cooperación entre RD y Colombia
Bogota, Colombia.- El presidente del Congreso de Colombia, Juan Manuel Corzo Román, destacó la necesidad de que entre los dos países se lleve a cabo una cooperación efectiva basada en la comprensión de la diversidad para alcanzar las metas trazadas.
En el marco de un reconocimiento en el congreso al mandatario dominicano, el presidente, Corzo Román, y el vicepresidente, Simón Gaviria Muñoz, destacaron el liderazgo regional de Leonel Fernández.
Ambos congresistas expusieron que Colombia y República Dominicana están comprometidas con la consolidación de la democracia, la justicia social, la paz y el progreso regional para construir proyectos comunes de desarrollo.
“Colombia y República Dominicana han encontrado en el mar Caribe un punto de unión para la concertación política, el diálogo franco y directo y el impulso a los programas de desarrollo sostenible en la región”, enfatizó Corzo Román.
Al respecto, dijo que los dos pueblos comparten el compromiso indeclinable con la defensa y promoción de los principios democráticos, los derechos humanos y las normas de derecho internacional.
Destacó, además, la solidaridad brindada por República Dominicana al gobierno de Colombia en el propósito de acercamiento con los pueblos de Venezuela y Ecuador para la estabilización de las buenas relaciones diplomáticas.
“Los lazos que nos unen se han consolidado a través de una historia de intereses y objetivos compartidos, de manera que su presencia en esta nación reafirma los tradicionales vínculos de amistad y cooperación, y nos brinda la oportunidad de señalarle nuevas pautas y dinamismo”, precisó Corzo Román.
Tanto el presidente como el vicepresidente del Senado coincidieron en señalar que la deuda externa ha creado grandes obstáculos para el desarrollo de la mayor parte de las naciones de América Latina.
En sus intervenciones definieron los desafíos que enfrentan los pueblos de la región, como son el narcotráfico y el terrorismo, por lo que consideraron necesarios el fortalecimiento de los lazos de cooperación.
Huesped de honor
La alcaldía de Bogotá declaró huésped de honor y entregó las llaves de la cuidad al presidente Leonel Fernández en el marco de una ceremonia encabezada por la alcaldesa mayor de esta ciudad, doctora Clara Eugenia López Obregón.
La alcaldesa de Bogotá felicitó al mandatario dominicano por su compromiso con la educación y la promoción de los derechos humanos.
Dijo que su trayectoria como presidente de la República Dominicana se ha destacado por el desarrollo de una política exterior dinámica y el crecimiento económico de la nación caribeña.
Refirió que Fernández logró la concertación del Tratado de Libre Comercio con los países del Caricom y Centroamérica, e integró la nación caribeña al Grupo de Río de los Países ACP.
López Obregón resaltó cómo el mandatario dominicano ha orientado la inversión pública privilegiando la educación y la salud pública.
Precisó que durante las administraciones gubernamentales de Fernández muchos dominicanos han accedido al empleado mediante el financiamiento y fortalecimiento de las pequeñas y medianas empresas; resaltando la importancia que tiene para los sectores vulnerables dominicanos los programas de alimentos a bajos precios, en puestos fijos, así como la promoción de la lectura a través de las olimpiadas, la realización de la feria internacional del libro y las becas internacionales a estudiantes jóvenes.
La alcaldesa mayor de Bogotá hizo un “justo reconocimiento al excelentísimo Leonel Fernández por su liderazgo y compromiso con el desarrollo de su país y de Latinoamérica”.
El mandatario dominicano participó también anoche en la inauguración del Centro Ático en la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
En el discurso central el padre Joaquín Emilio Sánchez García destacó el vínculo y la identificación que el jefe de Estado dominicano tiene con ese centro de enseñanza.
“El presidente Leonel Fernández es un amigo de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, a la que ha visitado en otras ocasiones, y sobre todo es un ferviente admirador del Centro Ático”, señaló el padre Sánchez.
