Romney amplía a 14 puntos su ventaja sobre Gingrich en Florida, según un sondeo
Miami (EE.UU.).- El precandidato republicano a la Presidencia de Estados Unidos Mitt Romney amplió su ventaja en Florida sobre su principal rival, Newt Gingrich, según los datos divulgados hoy por la Universidad Quinnipiac a menos de 24 horas de las primarias en este estado.
De acuerdo con ese sondeo, el exgobernador de Massachusetts logrará un 43% de los votos, frente al 29% que obtendrá el expresidente de la Cámara de Representantes en unas primarias en las que el voto hispano será de capital importancia.
Sólo un 7% de los potenciales votantes se mantiene indeciso, aunque un 24% dice que podría cambiar de decisión el mismo día de las elecciones, según la encuesta realizada entre el viernes y el sábado pasados a 539 posibles votantes republicanos de Florida, con un margen de error del 4.2%.
En el anterior barómetro político independiente de esta universidad, difundido el pasado viernes, Romney aventajaba a Gingrich por 9 puntos porcentuales, 38% frente a 29%.
Según los datos difundidos hoy, Romney obtiene el 38% del apoyo de los cristianos evangélicos blancos, frente al 33% con que se queda Gingrich, y logra el respaldo del 40% de los miembros de Tea Party, frente al 35% del segundo.
El exgobernador «está camino de la victoria con cifras de dos dígitos» de diferencia sobre Gingrich, señaló Peter A. Brown, subdirector del Instituto de Votación de la Universidad Quinnipiac.
Brown agregó que Romney ha superado a Gingrich en la captación de «cada parte de la coalición del Partido Republicano», incluidos los que se describen como conservadores, cristianos evangélicos blancos y seguidores del Tea Party.
«Si este margen se mantiene mañana, es difícil ver a dónde va Gingrich desde aquí», comentó el analista, en referencia a que Romney ganaría los 50 delegados en juego (y alcanzaría 81) y acumularía dos victorias, mientras que su rival, que ganó las primarias de Carolina del Sur, se quedaría con 26 delegados.
