La UIT y Telefónica organizan concursos de desarrollo de aplicaciones en 2012
Ginebra. – La Unión Internacional de Telecomunicaciones (UIT) y Telefónica, de España, han anunciado la organización de dos concursos destinados a descubrir planteamientos innovadores de las TIC a fin de apoyar el «Año Internacional de la Energía Sostenible para Todos» 2012 de las Naciones Unidas.
El Green ICT Hackathon tendrá lugar los días 28 y 29 de febrero durante el Mobile World Congress en Barcelona (España) y acaba de abrirse el plazo de presentación de ponencias para el Concurso de aplicaciones sobre TIC ecológicas, que terminará el 13 de abril de 2012.
Hamadoun Touré, secretario general de la UIT dijo que: «Una energía sostenible para todos es fundamental para el futuro de la civilización moderna”. La UIT –agregó- se ha comprometido a estimular la creación de aplicaciones TIC innovadoras basadas en nuevas ideas, ideas para llevar a cabo los cambios necesarios a fin de obtener un futuro sostenible».
En tanto, Alberto Andreu Pinillos, director de Reputación y Sostenibilidad Corporativas de Telefónica, manifestó que: «El Green ICT Hackathon forma parte de las actividades conjuntas de la Oficina de Cambio Climático y Eficiencia Energética de Telefónica, Movistar España y Bluevia, la plataforma mundial de desarrolladores de Telefónica”. “Estas iniciativas tienen dos objetivos, en primer lugar ayudar a los desarrolladores que tienen ideas interesantes y, en segundo lugar, fomentar aplicaciones TIC ecológicas para la eficacia energética y el desarrollo sostenible», apuntó Pinilos.
Green ICT Hackathon
Un ‘hackathon’ es un maratón de desarrollo de aplicaciones en el que desarrolladores compiten para crear aplicaciones innovadoras en un plazo determinado. El Green ICT Hackathon ofrecerá a desarrolladores del mundo entero la oportunidad de competir en el desarrollo de una aplicación TIC dedicada específicamente a la energía sostenible.
Tras lo que serán sin duda alguna dos días de competición frenética, el ganador y el segundo clasificado del Green ICT Hackathon recibirán sendos premios en efectivo de 3000 y 2000 USD respectivamente. Los premios se entregarán durante el Mobile World Congress el 29 de febrero, y tienen por objeto propiciar otros desarrollos de las aplicaciones más prometedoras. El evento, que cuenta con el apoyo de la UIT y Telefónica, también se beneficia de un apoyo adicional de Nokia, en el marco de la estrategia de la empresa en pro de una sostenibilidad mundial.
Segundo Concurso de aplicaciones sobre TIC ecológicas
El segundo Concurso de aplicaciones sobre TIC ecológicas busca conceptos innovadores para aplicaciones TIC que apoyen una «energía sostenible para todos». La economía mundial se está orientando por necesidad hacia fuentes de energía renovables y una producción de energía sostenible, y las TIC desempeñan un papel protagonista en la transformación de la distribución de energía con tecnologías tales como la red inteligente, los contadores inteligentes, la facturación inteligente y la electromovilidad, que permite un control más directo del volumen de energía consumida.
La UIT alienta a los concursantes a someter conceptos basados en esas interesantes innovaciones y a proponer nuevas posibilidades de mejorar la eficacia energética.
El concepto ganador recibirá un premio en efectivo de 3000 USD en una ceremonia de entrega de premios que tendrá lugar durante la conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre desarrollo sostenible (Rio+20) de Río de Janeiro (Brasil) en junio de 2012.
