Petróleo de Texas sube 1.65% y cierra a US$108.84 por barril
Nueva York.- El petróleo de Texas subió este jueves un 1.65% y cerró en 108.84 dólares por barril tras divulgarse algunos datos macroeconómicos mejores de lo esperado en Estados Unidos, el primer consumidor energético mundial junto a China.
Al final de la cuarta sesión de la semana en la Bolsa Mercantil de Nueva York (Nymex), los contratos de futuros del Petróleo Intermedio de Texas (WTI) para entrega en abril, los de más próximo vencimiento, sumaron 1.77 dólares al precio de cierre del miércoles.
La cotización del crudo de referencia para EE.UU. se vio presionada al alza después de conocerse datos alentadores sobre la evolución del mercado laboral, así como un aumento de los ingresos personales y el gasto de los consumidores en el país.
El Departamento de Trabajo estadounidense anunció que la cifra semanal de solicitudes de subsidio por desempleo disminuyó en 2,000 y quedó la semana pasada en 351,000, la cifra más baja en cerca de cuatro años.
Además, los ingresos personales de los ciudadanos subieron un 0.3% en enero, mes en el que el gasto de los consumidores creció un 0.2%, según el Departamento de Comercio.
Esos dos datos influyeron más en el precio de los futuros del WTI que el freno al crecimiento del sector manufacturero, que redujo en febrero su ritmo de expansión hasta su nivel más bajo desde noviembre, y la reducción de un 0.1% en el gasto en construcción.
Los contratos de gasolina con vencimiento en abril, que a partir de hoy se toman como referencia, ganaron 10 centavos y quedaron en 3.35 dólares por galón (3.78 litros).
A su vez, los pedidos de gasóleo para calefacción también para entrega ese mes subieron 7 centavos y cerraron en 3.27 dólares por galón.
Los contratos de gas natural de abril mermaron 14 centavos y terminaron la sesión en 2.46 dólares por cada mil pies cúbicos, a pesar de que el Departamento de Energía de Estados Unidos informó hoy de que las reservas en el país se redujeron la semana pasada en 82,000 millones de pies cúbicos. EFE
