LF pide respaldo para evitar se repita crisis económica de 2004
Bogota, Colombia.- El presidente dela República, Leonel Fernández apeló a la sensatez y al sentido común demostrado históricamente por el pueblo dominicano, a fin de no volver a repetir la experiencia traumática de la crisis económica del 2004.
En ese sentido, el jefe de Estado aseguró en esta ciudad que República Dominicana vivió un momento y una oportunidad perdida durante esa época, en la cual el mundo y América Latina económicamente estaban bien.
“Cuando el mundo iba bien económicamente, cuando América Latina iba bien económicamente, en República Dominicana nos iba muy mal”, respondió el presidente Fernández ante una pregunta del auditorio enla Universidaddel Externado, en la que pronunció una conferencia magistral.
Refirió que el Producto Interno Bruto mundial en el año 2000 era de 32 mil trillones de dólares, y ahora es de 63 mil trillones de dólares, lo que se ha duplicado.
El mandatario hizo la comparación de cuando asumió el gobierno en el año 2004 que el PIB era de 20 mil millones de dólares y ahora es de 56 mil millones de dólares, triplicándose en sus gestiones.
Dijo, sin embargo, que el buen desempeño de la economía del país ha dependido también de la buena marcha de la economía global.
Insistió en llamar a la sensatez y al sentido común de los dominicanos para que el próximo año, no volvamos a repetir la experiencia de un mal manejo de la economía.
El presidente Fernández pronunció una conferencia magistral sobre la democracia en América Latina y las perspectivas económicas hacia el futuro en la universidad del Externado, donde fue presentando por el rector de la casa de estudios, Néstor Ozuna.
