Asesinan a una periodista hondureña y a un acompañante en el interior de un automóvil
Tegucigalpa.- La periodista hondureña Luz Marina Paz, quien ejercía la profesión de manera independiente, fue asesinada a tiros en Tegucigalpa junto a su acompañante en el vehículo en que se conducían, informó una fuente policial.
El informante indicó a los periodistas que al parecer dos hombres que se desplazaban en una motocicleta dispararon contra la comunicadora y su acompañante, de quien no precisó su identidad.
Según versiones extraoficiales, Paz habría sido amenazada por presuntos delincuentes que le exigían el pago de un «impuesto de guerra» por un pequeño negocio que tenía, a lo que ella al parecer no accedió.
La comunicadora falleció en el interior de un vehículo color rojo, cuya compra estaba negociando con un oficial militar identificado como Marco Tulio Leiva, quien confirmó ese extremo a periodistas en el sitio donde murieron Paz y su acompañante.
Paz estudió periodismo en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras y durante varios años fue directora del programa «Tres en la noticia», que durante una hora transmitía a través de Radio Globo.
Después pasó a la radio Cadena Hondureña de Noticias (CHN), también de Tegucigalpa, según informaron medios locales.
Entre 2010 y lo que va de 2011 en Honduras han sido asesinados 17 periodistas, incluida Paz, sin que hasta ahora se hayan esclarecido las causas.
La muerte de Paz se produjo un día después de un atentado contra el diario La Tribuna, propiedad del expresidente hondureño Carlos Flores, en el que resultó herido de bala un guardia de seguridad de la empresa periodística.
El atentado contra La Tribuna se registró dos semanas después de que el rotativo denunció que varios de sus periodistas estaban siendo amenazados de muerte a raíz de las informaciones publicadas por el asesinato de dos universitarios en Tegucigalpa, en octubre pasado, en el que están implicados siete policías y un suboficial.
A raíz del caso de los universitarios y debido a la ola de criminalidad que vive Honduras, el presidente Porfirio Lobo puso en vigor el 1 de noviembre pasado la Operación Relámpago con la participación de policías y militares en las zonas que se registran más hechos delictivos.
La operación, que también rige en San Pedro Sula, norte, y el oriental departamento de Olancho, ha reducido sustancialmente los índices de violencia, según Lobo, quien además está interviniendo la Policía, que desde hace muchos años está salpicada por crímenes y delitos como narcotráfico y robo de vehículos, entre otros.
