Las ventas conjuntas de Ford en Estados Unidos suben un 11% en 2011
Washington.- Las ventas del grupo automovilístico estadounidense Ford en Estados Unidos aumentaron un 11% en 2011, hasta los 2.15 millones de vehículos gracias a la demanda de sus furgonetas y compactos, informó este miércoles la compañía.
Los vehículos de la marca Ford fueron los que mejores ventas registraron el año pasado, al aumentar un 17.4%, mientras que los automóviles Lincoln (con 85,643 unidades) y la ya desaparecida Mercury (248 unidades) redujeron su peso en el total.
La ventas de Ford de vehículos compactos, que subieron en Estados Unidos debido a la crisis económica y los descuentos por bajas emisiones, aumentaron un 25%, hasta las 244,291 unidades, mientras que las de utilitarios y SUV crecieron un 31 por ciento y se situaron en las 579,626 unidades.
El vicepresidente de Ford, Ken Czubay, dijo en un comunicado que «el año finalizó con una buena nota, con las ventas de la industria fortalecidas a final de año».
El modelo Ford Fusion, con 248,067 vehículos vendidos, y la serie de furgoneta F, que siguen siendo los más vendidos en su nicho de mercado en EE.UU., ayudaron a Ford a sobrepasar la marca de los 2 millones de automóviles por primera vez desde 2007.
Además, la tendencia general en el país de optar gradualmente por modelos compactos y de menor consumo hizo que el Ford Fiesta casi triplicara sus ventas anuales hasta las 68,574 unidades.
En el apartado de utilitarios SUV destacó la subida del Explorer, que dobló las ventas hasta las 135,704 unidades.
En el mes de diciembre, el aumento de las ventas de Ford, el único de los «Tres Grandes» de Detroit (GM, Ford y Chrysler) que no se declaró en bancarrota por la crisis en 2009, registró un aumento de las ventas del 10 por ciento.
En el último mes de 2011 los vehículos de grandes dimensiones de Ford fueron los que avanzaron con más fuerza, como el caso del Escape o las furgonetas de la serie F. EFE
