Aproleche pide a Agricultura evitar colapso del sector ganadero por sequía
Santo Domingo, RD.- La Asociación Dominicana de Productores de Leche (Aproleche) llamó al Ministerio de Agricultura a tomar las medidas correspondientes, para hacer frente a la sequía que desde hace varias semanas afecta a decenas de ganaderos en las cuatro provincias de la Línea Noroeste.
Eric Rivero, presidente de Aproleche, al ofrecer la información, dijo que Agricultura está a tiempo de tomar medidas, antes de que se empeore la situación, y no esperar que haga demasiado tarde.
“Esperamos que el ministro Salvador –Chío- Jiménez asome sus ojos para allá”, reclamó Rivero, en referencia a que Agricultura debe prestar atención a la actual situación de los ganaderos del Noroeste por causa de la sequía.
Las provincias que se ubican en el Noroeste son Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Montecristi y Dajabón, donde la crianza de ganado y las labores de ordeño son una de las principales fuentes de la economía en esa región.
Reportes recientes dan cuenta de que en localidades de Dajabón, se han reportado muertes de reses a causa de la fuerte sequía que afecta los sectores ganaderos y productivos de la Línea Noroeste.
Residentes en las comunidades de La Gorra y Baboso, de Santiago Rodríguez, y Aminilla, municipio de Partido, confirmaron la noticia, y dijeron que las reses murieron al faltarles agua y algunos alimentos.
Ganaderos de la región han manifestado su preocupación, en el sentido que podría repetirse la misma situación del año pasado, cuando murieron cientos de cabezas de ganado, debido a la prolongada sequía.
“El Ministerio de Agricultura que mire para el Noroeste, pero que entienda que esa región es solo una más de las tantas sequías que tenemos los ganaderos a nivel nacional por la falta de oportunidades, y ante la apatía de las autoridades frente a este sector, que tanto aporta a la sociedad dominicana”, afirmó el presidente de Aproleche.
Asimismo, Rivero se refirió a la falta de rentabilidad de los ganaderos, lo que ha dado lugar a la desaparición de decenas de fincas, y al respecto, dijo que el Consejo Nacional para la Reglamentación y Fomento de la Industria Lechera (Conaleche) está, prácticamente, acéfalo.
Al respecto, dijo que ese organismo ha estado a merced de la voluntad de un hombre, refiriéndose al ministro de Agricultura Chío Jiménez, en su condición de presidente de su Consejo Directivo, a pesar de haber cinco miembros de éste que tienen igual condiciones.
Rivero reiteró una petición que ya se ha convertido en un clamor generalizado, que el ministro Chío Jiménez convoque cuanto antes al Consejo del Conaleche.
Asimismo, Rivero dijo que los ganaderos siguen estancados en lo que se refiere a acceder a financiamientos, para destinarlos a la producción, debido a las trabas que les pone el Banco Agrícola.
