Sala Capitular ASDE reconoce como Hijo Distinguido de SDE al periodista Robert Vargas
Santo Domingo, RD.- Con el voto unánime de todos los concejales presentes, la Sala Capitular del ASDE reconoció como Hijo Distinguido de este municipio al periodista Robert Vargas, director de Ciudadoriental.org.
Tras ser leído el informe elaborado por la Comisión Permanente de Cultura de la Sala Capitular, fue sometido a votación la noble distinción, entregada a personas físicas, morales, nacionales o extranjeras con labores sociales, dedicación al trabajo y circunstancias especiales.
Según una información servida en Ciudadoriental.org, la resolución explica que Vargas tiene 30 años de labor sin interrupción como maestro del liceo Ramón Emilio Jiménez, de Los Mina, y 23 años de desempeñando el periodismo en los principales medios de comunicación del país.
Explica que Vargas fundó el Taller Fotográfico Popular, que era un instituto de fotoperiodismo y fotografía comercial, donde se formaron cientos de jóvenes que están diseminados en los diferentes medios de comunicación de nuestro país.
La resolución subraya que en su labor de gerencia de diferentes medios de comunicación, Vargas dio oportunidades a jóvenes de ejercer la labor periodista, y que en 1995 se convirtió en uno de los pioneros de elaborar un periódico digital, distribuido a través de los grupos de noticias conocidos como USENET.
El reconocimiento explica que en 2001 Vargas fundó el periódico Ciudad Oriental, impreso de 16 páginas y que tiempo después crea la versión digital, convirtiéndose en uno de los principales medios del municipio.
La resolución que declara como Hijo Distinguido a Vargas, se ampara en las disposiciones de la ley 176-07 y el reglamento 01-11 sobre otorgamiento de honores y distinciones del Concejo Municipal.
La solicitud de reconocimiento a Robert Vargas fue hecha por el concejal Luís Flores, del Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), y fue acogida de manera favorable por la Comisión de Cultura y Turismo de la Sala Capitular, presidida por Daneris Santana.
En la comisión estaban además los concejales Fanny Santana del Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD); Manuel Soto Lara del Bloque Institucional Socialdemócrata (BIS); Ricardo López de la Fuerza Nacional Progresista (FNP); Ruddy Liriano del Partido Reformista Social Cristiano (PRSC), y César Fortuna Ana Tejeda del (PLD).
