Presidente Fernández recibe jefe de misión de observadores electorales de la OEA
Santo Domingo, RD.- El presidente Leonel Fernández recibió en su despacho al jefe de la Misión de Observadores Electorales de la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA), Tabaré Vásquez, con quien conversó sobre la marcha del proceso electoral que se desarrolla en el país.
Vásquez, ex presidente de Uruguay, estuvo acompañado de Pablo Gutiérrez, director del Departamento para la Cooperación Electoral de la OEA; David Álvarez Veloso, sub jefe de la Misión de Observación Electoral en República Dominicana; Raúl Alconada y Eduardo Bandeira, miembros de la Misión de Observadores.
Previo a su ingreso al despacho presidencial, Vásquez definió como de cortesía la visita al presidente Fernández, al tiempo que reiteró su opinión en torno a la eficacia del trabajo de la Junta Central Electoral y a la transparencia del proceso.
“El señor presidente ha tenido la gentileza de recibirnos, al igual que el señor canciller. Así que es una visita de cortesía”, dijo.
Informó que previamente se reunió con los miembros de la Junta Central Electoral, lo mismo que con representantes de otros sectores involucrados en el proceso comicial, a los fines de recabar opiniones para hacerle un informe al secretario general de la OEA, José Miguel Insulza.
Dijo que hasta el momento todo marcha bien, tras asegurar que no observó ninguna dificultad en el proceso de cara a las elecciones de mayo próximo.
De igual manera, informó que se marcha del país el próximo sábado, tras dejar instalada la misión de observación electoral, y retornará en mayo para observar personalmente el desenvolvimiento de las votaciones que se han de celebrar el 20 de ese mes.
El jefe de la misión de observadores de la OEA se encuentra en el país desde ayer, miércoles, y horas después de su llegada sostuvo un encuentro con los integrantes de la JCE.
Entre otras áreas, los observadores de la OEA monitorearán el Centro de Cómputos de la JCE, la transmisión y escrutinio de los sufragios, así como el acceso a todas las áreas importantes del proceso.
