RD ha recibido US$2,000 millones de Petrocaribe y logra paliar crisis
Santo Domingo, RD.- La República Dominicana ha logrado aminorar los efectos de la crisis económica mundial, mediante el acuerdo Petrocaribe con Venezuela, a través del cual ha recibido financiamiento en siete años por el orden de los US$2,000 millones.
Así lo expresaron el embajador de Venezuela en el país, Alfredo Murga Rivas y el presidente de la Refinería Dominicana de Petróleo (Refidomsa), Francisco Méndez, quienes manifestaron la nación dominicana recibe diariamente 30 mil barriles de crudo, que pueden ser pagados con productos alimenticios.
Murga Rivas destacó la necesidad de que el país mejore el uso de los recursos provenientes del acuerdo en beneficio de los sectores sociales más desfavorecidos.
Precisó que “la intención del presidente Hugo Chávez, plasmada en el acuerdo, tiene una connotación profundamente social, esa connotación se va desarrollando, se va implementando en cada nación signataria del acuerdo, según sus propias características”.
En tanto que Méndez señaló que debido al financiamiento del Gobierno venezolano, a través de Petrocaribe, el cual es administrado por el Ministerio de Hacienda, el país ha resultado favorecido en la cooperación energética.
Las declaraciones de Murga Rivas y Méndez se produjeron en el marco de una rueda de prensa en la sede de la embajada de Venezuela en el país.
