El Gobierno mexicano anuncia patente de la primera vacuna contra la heroína
México.- El Gobierno mexicano anunció hoy la patente de su primera vacuna contra la heroína que será utilizada para combatir y prevenir las adicciones en México, principalmente en niños y jóvenes.
«México ha logrado patentar ya la primera vacuna contra el uso de la heroína y estamos trabajando para más», indicó el secretario mexicano de Salud, Salomón Chertorivski, durante la presentación de la Red de Transferencia de Tecnología para la Atención de las Adicciones.
El funcionario añadió que esta medida forma parte de las acciones gubernamentales para brindar tratamientos en vez de poner en prisión a personas que cometen un delito no grave por primera vez bajo el influjo de las drogas.
Advirtió también de que las adicciones son un atentado a la salud y a la libertad.
La Red de Transferencia de Tecnología para la Atención de las Adicciones, inaugurada por la subsecretaria estadounidense de Estado para Asuntos Políticos, Wendy Sherman, es una plataforma tecnológica que mejorará la lucha contra la drogadicción y ha recibido 18 millones de dólares del Gobierno de EE.UU. de la Iniciativa Mérida.
Gracias a esta entrega se instalarán unos 8,500 equipos distribuidos en 400 centros, explicó el titular de Salud.
Con los expedientes electrónicos registrados en la red se podrá, entre otras cosas, supervisar información estratégica en el consumo de drogas, conocer la población en riesgo, la edad de inicio en el consumo y la droga de impacto, indicó.
México ha incrementado considerablemente su presupuesto en prevención de adicciones, que pasó de 135 millones de pesos (10.9 millones de dólares) en 2006 a 400 millones de pesos (31 millones de dólares) en 2011.
Chertorivski añadió que este proyecto es ejemplo de la sólida cooperación entre México y Estados Unidos, intercambio de información, asistencia técnica y transferencia de equipo, tecnología y capacitación para fortalecer las capacidades institucionales de este país.
México ha recibido apoyos por valor de 750 millones de dólares como parte de la Iniciativa Mérida, un plan de seguridad lanzado por EE.UU. en 2008 para ayudar a este país y a Centroamérica en el combate al narcotráfico y el crimen organizado. EFE
