Alerta vehículos Chevrolet Captiva Sport 2011 y 2012 tienen defecto de transmisión de fábrica
Santo Domingo, RD.- Aunque no son importados ni distribuidos en el mercado de República Dominicana, los vehículos Chevrolet Captiva Sport 3.0 L, modelos 2011 y 2012 tienen un defecto de fábrica en la transmisión, alertó el Instituto Nacional de Protección de los Derechos del Consumidor (Pro Consumidor).
De acuerdo a Red de Consumo Seguro y Salud (RCSS) que notificó a Pro Consumidor, el pasado 6 de enero, que la transmisión de ese vehículo tiene un defecto en primera marcha.
Según ese alerta, los vehículos Chevrolet Captiva 3.0 L, modelos 2011 y 2012 “en circunstancias muy particulares, cuando son conducidos con la transmisión en modo manual (M) y en primera marcha del motor superior a los 4,000 Revoluciones por Minutos (RPM) por más de cinco (5) minutos ininterrumpidos, se presenta un sobrecalentamiento del fluido de la dirección hidráulica que podría ocasionar una fuga del líquido de su depósito”.
Por esa causa, según indicó, “se endurece la dirección y en el evento que llegare entrar en contacto con el convertidor catalítico, podría ocasionar fuego en el compartimiento del motor”.
El personal técnico de Pro Consumidor investigó con la «Santo Domingo Motors Company, S. A.», empresa distribuidora de la marca, quien explicó que recibieron de «General Motors» “las instrucciones e informaciones que aclaran que la indicada advertencia aplica exclusivamente para los modelos de referencia (Chevrolet Captiva Sport 2011 y 2012, motor V6) los cuales no son importados ni distribuidos para el mercado de la República Dominicana, razón por la cual no aplica el llamado a revisión de que se trata».
No obstante, Pro Consumidor dijo que publica la información recibida de la Red de Consumo Seguro para que sea conocida por toda la población porque en el país hay compradores de vehículos que lo adquieren el extranjero, como adquirientes particulares.
“Particulares traen de fuera sus vehículos y alertamos por si alguien ha adquirido algún vehículo con esas características. En Colombia, se vendieron más de dos mil vehículos con los defectos señalados y fueron retirados del mercado por los fabricantes, según informe de la RCSS”, precisa la entidad defensora de los consumidores.
Dijo que en caso de que en términos personal, cualquier ciudadano haya introducido al país un vehículo Chevrolet Captiva Sport 2011 y 2012, motor V6, que proceda a realizar las investigaciones correspondientes con el fabricante, para la corrección de esa falla.

La creación de la RCSS es fruto de los esfuerzos realizados por la Secretaría General de la OEA en alianza con la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), sobre Protección del Consumidor de la Asamblea General de la OEA.
Brinda fácil acceso a información relevante sobre productos considerados inseguros por mercados del mundo con avanzados sistemas de alerta y constituye un ámbito de capacitación de funcionarios sobre seguridad de los productos de consumo.
La RCSS es el primer esfuerzo Interamericano para contribuir a la conformación y consolidación de los sistemas nacionales y regionales destinados a fortalecer la seguridad de los productos.
